Does the gartered chemise have the reminiscence of the 1950s? Does it remind you of what mother use to wear – the all in one body corset with garters to hold up her stockings? We love the modern gartered chemise because of just that! To us, it represents a nod to the 1950s but with exquisite designs and a variety of colours some are worthy to be worn as outerwear (tops) paired with a favour pair of slacks or a skirt.
We want to showcase some of our own and show just how similar yet very different today’s designs are from the 1950s.
The detail on the above chemise is exquisite. The intricate silver embroidery that follows the lace pattern down through the hips makes this a winner for us. We love this figure hugging chemise for the design not just at the front but the back too. The matching G-String finishes this style with complete flair.
The SoH-IA Gartered Peach Chemise, featured below, was chosen for it versatile look and feel. The gorgeous bow at the front add that all important femininity to the garment. We love this lace chemise; it is a pity to have to wear it as an under-garment. Also available in colours Magenta, Red and Topaz.
The SoH Sheer Cup Chemise, feature below, is a knock-out! Fabulously designed for the fuller figure, it comes in Purple, Red and White. We are showcasing this because of it modern design and great use of lace on the bodice. The colour from the sheer cup is followed down the front and sides of the garment adding a splash of colour to the bodice.
Having seen just 3 of our gartered chemises, I am sure mother would have loved these in her time too!
